It’s almost the end of the year! Time has flown by eh? I’m finishing it as I started: sat at my desk, writing away. Except this time, I’m festive.
Ho ho ho.
So I think it’s safe to say that 2016 has been the most amazing year for Fonmanu Creative to date. Ok, so we’ve only actually been around for 2 years, so not much competition, but let’s not digress. 2016 rocked!
I remember being sat here exactly a year ago, stressed out to fuck, crying and worrying that I would never get a director, I wouldn’t have enough money, the show wouldn’t be good enough etc etc. How wrong I was. Sure it was a struggle to find a director, but I got one- a good one. Sure, I didn’t have enough money- but that’s because gurl gone WILD on the advertising and blew her budget. It was worth it though- seeing my face everywhere. And fuck yeah, not only was the show good enough- it was ridiculously good (I might be biased, but fuck it, it’s my blog). It was probably the best show that ever performed at the Fringe, and nothing will ever be as good as it. Nothing.
I hope 2017 will be an even better year, and I manage to not only put on 2 shows at the Edinburgh Fringe, but put In Utero on again somewhere, maybe a wee tour? Who knows. This time next year I could be sitting on a pile of awards! Or on a pile of boxes because I spent all my money buying statues of myself.
I would like to thank everyone who has supported us this year. Whether it be coming to see a show, reading these amazing blogs, or sending me some well wishes. Whatever it was, thank you very much. Special shout out to my parents, Jiurie and Neil for being amazing and supportive and amazing and everything and great.
I could not have had such a successful year if it wasn’t for my Edinburgh Fringe team: Amir Tabrizi, Euan Tyre, Greg Reid and Kathryn Ross. This group worked their arse off for me and together we created a bloody fantastic show that made people laugh and cry and want some more.
Lastly I would like to thank Mark Westbrook and Acting Coach Scotland for continuing to push me and help me to be the best I can be. Without them, none of this would ever have happened. I promise I will be back in the new year when I finally have some money again.
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR Y’ALL. KEEP IT COOL.
