I have a new show “Don’t Talk To Me About Love”. It’s hella good and funny. But what’s it all about? Well, to give you all a bit more information, here’s an interview I did talking about the show, with everyone’s favourite interviewer: me.
It’s Fringe Season! The most stressful of all the seasons, including mating season.
It’s that time of the year where you see a shit load of shows- some good, some terrible, some great, some just…aye alright- and, if you are performing, where you lose your fucking mind.
So what’s Fonmanu Creative up to this fringe? Well, this year we will not be taking a show to the festival for various reasons (exhaustion, being poor and traumatised) BUT I am doing a separate show, as is Amir (star of 2016’s In Utero), and Stephen (star of 2017’s In Utero). Here’s where to see us:
Man alive, I’ve missed writing. Since the Fringe finished 2 months ago, I have been lazy as fuck. Haven’t written a single line of dialogue, read a play, or even done any acting classes. It’s been the most mind numbing 2 months, but well needed. Oh man, I was so exhausted.
BUT NOW I’M ENERGISED TO FUCK AND ATTACKING SCRIPTS FROM ALL ANGLES!
REDRAFT HERE, NEW SHOW THERE, WRITING WRITING WRITING!!
So….the plan was to write a daily blog during the Fringe, telling you all about the ups and downs, how amazing I am, what i ate, show you how great I look etc etc etc. Turns out doing the Fringe is fucking exhausting so that didn’t happen. Here’s a quick summary:
(Said in style of SHAKIRA, SHAKIRA)
Rehearsals are well and truly underway for In Utero and fuck me, I’m shattered. But I’m loving it! Look at the venue we’re rehearsing in. Look at it!
Aye, rehearsals. They are going great, feeling more and more confident each time. BUT I JUST WANT TO SLEEP! My lovely day job has me working till 6am and then I’m rehearsing from…noon to 6pm and then back to work. It’s a struggle. But I’m doing ok! Power through! I love coffee. Oh man I’m rambling again. I’m so tired. But wired. Tired and wired. I’m gonna stop talking I don’t know what I’m saying.
This year I am taking a brand new show to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. I am fucking shitting it. Oh my god. What am I doing? I’ve never done anythign like this before! I’e never been on stage two nights in a row, let alone twenty shows. Oh man. Oh man. I’m excited about it, but a kind of “kill me now please omg” excited.
Remember my short film Unplanned? Well, I went and adapted that into a wee short play. It’s a shame it wasn’t a musical, because Unplanned:The Musical has a better ring to it:
“Girl, you gotta abort that fetus,
And we’ll have more money to feed us.
I can’t raise no baby,
I’ll pull out next time, maybe”
It would’ve been a Broadway hit.
